My afternoon with a man.

7 Feb

Today I have worked in CS4 all afternoon familiarising myself with the new software which was kindly bought for me by my fabulous mother who took pity on me because my old CS3 couldn’t be installed on my beastly IMAC which was running Snow Leopard.

For some reason I find that CS4 is easier to use and this afternoon I played around with the tools and actions palette generally to see what I could make it do!

This image comes from a picture that I found on the internet which I transformed using the filter gallery and various tools like curves and then adding image layers,I tend to work quite organically letting the program and my imagination work in harmony!.

Snow Leopard verses CS3 Photoshop

27 Aug

The new operating system Snow Leopard for the Mac is released on Friday 28th August giving some a faster mac and more space and I for one was eager to purchase the latest exciting shiny new product from Apple. Luckily I came across an article posted on the Wired website informing that adobe will not guarantee that CS3 will work on snow leopard!!.

Only CS4 has been tested and will work on the new system but those who are using the expensive CS3 software (£500) will either have to upgrade to the latest creative release for around £150 or not bother installing Snow Leopard at all if they prefer to continue using CS3, which is my preference.

I just feel like I am being cornered into a situation where I have to make a choice of either spending even more money or be stuck with an operating system which will be neglected by Apple in the future!.

Adobe you fail to support your customers requirements and are just money grabbing and morally corrupt.

Photoshop come back to me!

4 Feb

Since moving from windows to mac I have been left with NO PHOTOSHOP to work on, only elements 4 which is very basic. So today I gritted my teeth and said a prayer for my bank account and ordered CS3 (£560:00)from amazon. The price is very expensive but hopefully will be worth it in the long run, its an essential tool for me and one I can’t live without.
With my friend in San Francisco we are embarking on a project where we will each in turn decide an subject matter for a photographic image which we will then post on flickr when we have both finished!.
I am sure that my individual style will continue to rein and produce the very strong Homolicker trademark in each and everyone of the images, although I am not regarding the continuing project as a war of creativity but more of a creative copulation, playing off each other and generating art through thoughts and ideas!.
