The film “Milk” a surprise story line.

After watching Gus Van Sant’s film “Milk” I was surprised by the fact that I didn’t know that gay people who were living in the Castro area during the late seventies were subjected to violent attacks from the police!. Call me naive but I thought that the Castro would have been one area where gay people would have sanctuary from such behaviour.

This story line in the film was eye opening for me and I am a little surprised by this fact of intimidation and violence and being the age that I am (teenager during the late seventies) when I “came out” I dreamed of going to San Fransisco and as I thought it at the time live in a safe haven for homosexuals.

I was also very shocked by Sean Penn’s performance of Harvey Milk which was outstanding and sensitive and coming from a man who’s previous roles which have been ultra masculine and one dimensional, its with great surprise that in “Milk” he can surly act with passion and intelligence.

Eye candy is supplied by James Franco who looked stunningly sexy during the first half of the film with a hot beard and grungy/hippy type clothes and his performance was also believable and heart warming and he brought a sincere and intimate quality to the character.

But really with Gus Van Sant as director the film couldn’t fail, he is in my eyes a genius!

Jim Carrey kisses Ewan McGregor in gay film.

Apparently Jim Carrey was worried that his latest role as gay convict Steven jay Russell who falls in love with his cell mate Phillip Morris played by the fabulous/sexy Ewan McGregor might have had lasting effects regarding his personal relationship with Jenny McCarthy and also detrimental effects upon his self image!.

Carey had doubts about taking on the role in the film “I Love You Phillip Morris” because he feared that he might “enjoy the experience”!!!? ( strange???!) , I mean for gods sake Jim push yourself a little and do us all a favour and star in a film a little more interesting than the usual crap you’re associated with!.

Apparently McGregor took out extra insurance during the filming in case he was swallowed WHOLE during a kissing scene!!!

Crash a film about you!.

Yesterday I found hidden at the back of my dvd collection “Crash” which for some reason I had failed to watch, so I thought it was about time I watched it. All I can say is that Crash is an amazing film which deals with issues that face every single one of use in modern society,its a mirror of our neurosis and failures and provides no sugar coated solutions.

The film which starred Matt Dillon,Brendan Fraser,Sandra Bullock,Nona Gaye and the gorgeous Ryan Phillippe (who wouldn’t). I really enjoyed the film although challenging because of the fact it deals with racial issues and the friction between people who forced into similar environments.

To conclude because of the way the narrative unfolds you can only feel a more appreciative about the little things in life and the things which you hold close to your heart and although the film as a whole is depressing as a result is you feel thankful for what you have!.

After I had watched the film I went out and photographed a single beautiful flower ****PEACE****
